Solar comes with obvious and less obvious incentives. Here are just a few solar incentives applicable in 2022 and 2023:
A home owner can eliminate electric costs and create new streams of revenue.
Here is a hypothetical example of incentives for solar:
- Wipe out a $200 per month electric bill, causing a $2,400 per year savings, or $48,000 in 20 years, of cost savings.
- IRS Renewable Energy Tax Credits for installing the system including potential of wrapping in other roof repair costs, along with smaller Massachusetts tax credits. Up to tens of thousands of dollars can be saved here depending on the circumstances.
- MA Smart Save Incentives to create a small stream of reoccurring revenue on top of cost savings and tax credits.
- MA Energy Storage Initiative is now incentivizing battery storage, which is additional upfront costs, but creates more long term and flexible cost savings, usage, and revenue potential.
These incentives and savings can turn a roof repair project and sunk cost into a new profit and cost savings center.
